Indore. On Saturday morning, the administration took major action on the part of the mosque built by illegal encroachment in the premises of MY Hospital, the largest government hospital of Madhya Pradesh. Revenue and Municipal Corporation staff reached the spot early in the morning with two Pokeland machines, four dumpers and more than a dozen police vehicles. The administration adopted a strict stance and razed the illegal boundary wall of the mosque and the big tin shed inside the premises. The administration says that now this land can be used for the treatment of poor patients and expansion of facilities.

Allegation of possession of 30 thousand square feet land

The campus of MY Hospital located in Indore is quite spacious. In the year 1967, 300 square feet of land was allotted to the soldiers here for offering Namaz. But it is alleged that a few years ago, the people of the Mosque Committee, while expanding the premises, occupied about 30 thousand square feet of land. In this matter, a notice was issued to the Masjid Committee by SDM Juni Indore. The hearing of this case continued in the court of SDM Juni Indore for almost two years. A few days ago, SDM Juni Indore had ordered eviction of the committee considering the extended construction of the mosque as illegal. The Mosque Committee filed a writ petition against this in the High Court, which was rejected by the High Court on Friday. On Saturday, the very next day after the petition was rejected, the administration started the action of removing the illegal part of the mosque.

Former president claims more land registered in records

Shahid Ali, former chairman of the Mosque Committee, says that the land of the mosque is recorded as more than 30 thousand square feet in the revenue record documents, but the administration is not ready to see the related documents. He claims that while rejecting the petition, the High Court had given him the freedom to present his case before the competent court, but the administration did not give him adequate opportunity and took action even before that. He said that all the necessary documents related to the mosque are available with him.

Heavy police force deployed amid protests

During the action of removing the illegal part of the mosque, some people of the Muslim community also tried to protest, but due to the presence of heavy police force, the protest could not be effective. The administration completed the entire operation peacefully while maintaining tight security arrangements.

Boundary wall and residential buildings were also demolished

Along with breaking the boundary wall of the mosque, the administration also demolished some residential structures built in the premises. However, on the request of the Mosque Committee, the administration has given seven days’ time after taking partial action. SDM Ghanshyam Dhangar said in clear words that the administration will take action again as soon as the seven-day period ends. If the illegal construction is not removed within the stipulated time, the entire structure will be forcibly demolished.
