Raipur : On the occasion of 16th National Voters’ Day, a grand state level function was organized today at Vivekananda Auditorium, Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur. The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Chief Guest Justice Inder Singh Uboweja, Chief Lokayukta, Chhattisgarh Lok Aayog. On this occasion, he inaugurated the voter awareness exhibition organized at the venue and also visited it.
Chief Electoral Officer Yashwant Kumar, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Bhaskar Vilas Sandipan, Joint Chief Electoral Officer P.S. were present in the program. Dhruv, Raipur Collector Dr. Gaurav Kumar, Durg Collector Abhijeet Singh, Surajpur Collector S. Jaivardhan, were present.
Addressing the program, Chief Guest Justice Inder Singh Uboweja said that the main objective of Voters’ Day is to make citizens aware and motivated to exercise their franchise. He said that extensive provisions have been made in the Indian Constitution to ensure free, fair and transparent elections. For this purpose, the Election Commission was established on this day. Justice Uboweja said that India is the largest democratic country in the world, voting is both a right and duty of a citizen. Through voting we shape the future of our country and decide the direction of development. Therefore all citizens should exercise their franchise and contribute to the overall development of the country. National Voters’ Day reminds us that every voter’s vote is important to strengthen democracy.
Addressing the program, Chief Electoral Officer Yashwant Kumar while wishing National Voter’s Day said that the role of voter is most important in any democratic system. He said that the more participation of voters is ensured in the electoral process, the more powerful, inclusive and effective democracy becomes. He said that this year the theme of our 16th National Voters’ Day has been set as ‘Mera India, Mera Vote’, while its tagline has been kept as ‘Citizen at the center of Indian democracy’.
CEO Kumar said that the theme āMy India, My Voteā gives the message that the strength of democracy depends on the active participation of citizens. The vote of every voter plays an important role in the development of the country and strengthening democratic values. At the same time, the tagline āCitizens at the Center of Indian Democracyā shows that the entire process of fair, free and transparent elections is based on the trust and participation of the citizens. He said that under an ambitious initiative, a special intensive vetting program is being conducted by the Election Commission of India, the main objective of which is to ensure that no eligible citizen is deprived of voter registration and no ineligible person remains registered in the voter list.
On the occasion of National Voter’s Day, Voter’s Oath was administered to all the people present in the program. In the program, new voters and officers and employees who made significant contribution in the election work and the districts doing excellent work in various categories were honored under the Best District Election Award for the year 2025. In which South Bastar Dantewada district was honored for ‘Innovation based voter awareness initiative’, Surajpur district for ‘Election Management and Administration (Logistics)’, Durg district for ‘Training and Capacity Building’ and Jashpur district for ‘Effective use of technology in elections’.
Similarly, Nishtha Pandey Tiwari, District Mungeli was honored as the outstanding Deputy District Election Officer by giving her a citation, check and memento. Similarly, for the Excellent Electoral Registration Officer Award, Pratima Thackeray, District Balod, Hari Shankar Paikra, District Mahasamund, Gagan Sharma District Bastar, Chandni Kanwar District Surajpur and Devendra Kumar Chaudhary District Janjgir-Champa were honored with citation, check and memento.
Apart from this, Dhalsingh Visen district Durg, Sukhyati Netam district Raipur, Panchram Salame district Bijapur, Danish Parvez district Balrampur and Shiv Kumar Dansena district Raigarh were also honored with awards in the category of Excellent Assistant Electoral Registration Officer.
Apart from this, state icon Vijay Sharma, Harish Bhatia Rajnandgaon for election observer, Vinod Kumar Aglave and Vinod Kumar Sonkesaria Raipur were honored for the special award category.
Along with this, EPIC cards were provided to the new voters and for their excellent work division wise, 10 BLOs included Ramesh Toppo, Assistant Teacher, District Raigarh, Ambika Prakash Upadhyay, District Janjgir-Champa, Loknath Pradhan, Assistant Teacher, District Sukma, Rajkumar Kondra, District Bijapur, Anupam Rai, Anganwadi Worker, District Surguja, Anita Tiwari, Anganwadi Worker, District Surguja. Umeshwari Verma, Employment Assistant, District Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, Anita Soni, Anganwadi worker, District Durg, Durga Baghel, BLO, District Gariaband and Virendra Kumar Jaiswal, Assistant Teacher, District Balodabazar-Bhatapara along with 05 Assistant Programmers, 05 Data Entry Operators were honored with citation, check and memento. At the end of the program, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Taruna Sahu expressed gratitude. On this occasion, officers and employees of various districts and officers and employees of the Chief Electoral Officer office were present.
