The celebration of Holi, one of the most famous and important festivals, has started across the country. Talking about this traditional festival full of colors and joy, it is incomplete without mentioning Braj. Holi in Braj is not just a festival, but a great festival lasting for about 40 days. One of them is the Holi of Dauji Maharaj Temple located in Baldev, Mathura, which is called ‘Huranga’. This time this huranga will be played on Thursday, March 5. It is said that lakhs of devotees from all over the country and abroad come to see Dauji’s Huranga.

Huranga Holi Celebration
The festival of ‘Huranga’ Holi will be celebrated in the Dauji Maharaj temple of Mathura on the next day of Holi i.e. on 5th March this year, where women tear the clothes of male Huriyars and make whips out of them and then beat them with the same. Here Holi is played with traditional, natural and herbal colors with lots of colors and Tesu (Palash) water.

Kodemar Holi Celebration
Huranga and Kodemar Holi of Dauji Maharaj temple of Mathura is famous all over the world, in which Sakhis whip men. On March 5, the festival of Huranga and Kodemar Holi will be celebrated with great pomp at Dauji Maharaj Temple from 11 am to 1 pm.

Temple dedicated to Lord Krishna’s elder brother Balram
Dauji Maharaj, located in Baldev, Mathura, is a very ancient and famous temple, which is dedicated to Balram (Dauji), the elder brother of Lord Shri Krishna. Along with the approximately 7 feet high black statue of Lord Balram, his wife Revati ji is also present in the temple. It is also known for ‘Gopal Lalji Ka Mandir’ and ‘Balbhadra Kund’.

Dauji Maharaj Temple is located in Baldev town at a distance of about 25 kilometers from Mathura. This is one of the most ancient and historical temples of Braj, where devotees and tourists come from far and wide during Holi.
