18-day Service on Wheels campaign became an example of public service, thousands of disabled people and elderly people benefited.

Mohalla: The 18-day Service on Wheels Divyangjan and Elderly Seva Rath Abhiyan, run by the Social Welfare Department in the district, set an example of public service by ensuring effective access to government services in remote and rural areas. Under the campaign, benefits of various schemes were provided to the disabled and elderly people by reaching every village through cluster level camps and Seva Rath in the three development blocks of the district, Krimanpur, Mohla and Ambagarh Chowki, near their homes. The main achievement of this campaign was the direct reach of the administration to the border and last-mile villages.
During the campaign, 337 DLC, physical verification, 209 death entries, 39 migration entries and 245 Aadhaar seeding were completed through Seva Rath. Under the Vaya Vandan Yojana, 56 registrations were done and 72 Ayushman cards were manufactured and distributed. To promote social awareness, drug de-addiction pledge programs were also organized at 14 places. 2 battery tricycles, 21 tricycles, 17 wheelchairs, 175 walking sticks, 35 hearing aids, 12 crutches, 8 walkers, 8 waist/knee belts, 8 digital/sensor sticks, 3 artificial legs/prostheses and 1 special TLM kit for mentally challenged persons were distributed to the eligible beneficiaries, which helped in facilitating their daily life.
Apart from this, applications for skill training were received from 21 disabled persons and applications for UDID card were received from 9 beneficiaries. Availability of services at the village level provided special relief to the disabled and elderly people for whom it was difficult to reach government offices. Officers, employees, disabled people’s representatives and field staff played an important role in the initiative of providing services to the last person of the district administration.
