Raipur : The impact of the National Rural Livelihood Mission, which is working towards economic empowerment of women in rural areas, is now clearly visible at the ground level. Pushpa Paikra, resident of Gram Panchayat Charai under Shankargarh Janpad Panchayat of Balrampur district, is an example of this. Who is becoming known as Lakhpati Didi after joining the group.

Pushpa, once forced to support her family on limited income, has become a successful rice mill operator. She has changed the direction of her life by joining Om Mahila Self Help Group and is also inspiring other women of the village.

Pushpa says that before joining the group, the family’s income was mainly dependent on agriculture and labour. The annual income from agriculture was about Rs 35 thousand and from labor was about Rs 25 thousand. Overall the annual income of the family was around Rs 60 thousand, due to which the needs of the family were barely met. Due to which children’s education and better health facilities were also affected due to limited resources.

After joining Om Mahila Self Help Group, Pushpa received financial assistance from the group under NRLM, Community Investment Fund of Rs 30 thousand and Cash Credit Limit of Rs 40 thousand. Due to which Pushpa decided to establish a rice mill. He started the work of rice processing at the local level. Today his mill is operating regularly due to which the farmers of the village are also getting facilities.

The successful operation of the rice mill has improved the financial condition of the family. Now Pushpa’s annual income has reached Rs 1 lakh 26 thousand. With economic strength, there has been a positive change in the standard of living of the family. This increase in income has made Pushpa self-reliant and she is making the concept of Lakhpati Didi meaningful. Have thanked the government for improving their economic condition.
