Raipur : Forests and natural resources can be protected only by taking strict legal action to effectively control illegal felling, encroachment and illegal mining. The government is working towards environmental protection by ensuring the conservation of natural resources and promoting the green movement of the state and the country.
Teak logs seized during night patrolling in Kota area
As per the instructions of Managing Director Chhattisgarh State Forest Development Corporation, regular visits and occasional and night patrolling are being done in all the project divisions for effective control on illegal felling, encroachment and illegal excavation. This continuous action is yielding positive results in the protection of forest areas. In the same sequence, on receiving information on March 1, 2026, the team raided Semaria-Danokhar road, room number P/805 during night patrolling under Kota area. During the operation, the forest criminals fled leaving 2 pickup vehicles and teak logs on the spot. The surrounding area was searched, but the accused could not be caught.
A pickup vehicle number CG 13 L 2428 (estimated value Rs 3 lakh) and 10 pieces of teak logs (0.762 cubic metres) obtained from illegal felling were seized from the spot and case number 78/49, dated 02.03.2026, was registered. Similarly, another pickup vehicle number CG 10 AY 9034 (estimated value Rs 5 lakh) and 2 pieces of teak log (0.107 cubic meter) were seized and case number 78/48, dated 02.03.2026, was registered. The total estimated value of the seized forest produce is approximately Rs 40 thousand.
This action was completed under the guidance of Regional General Manager Bilaspur Abhishek Singh and Divisional Manager Kota Project Division Satyadev Sharma and under the direction of Sub-Divisional Manager Ashutosh Singh. The campaign was conducted by project area officers Vivek Dewangan and Ravi Kumar Jagat. During this period, Assistant Project Field Officer and other forest employees and plantation protection workers were actively involved.
Managing Director Prem Kumar has congratulated the concerned officers and employees on quick and effective action against forest crime. He has directed that strict action should be continued with similar vigilance in all the forest areas of the corporation. Besides, instructions have also been given to mention the role of the concerned officer/employee in forest protection and promotion in the upcoming confidential report.
