Madhya Pradesh. This time, under the new excise system, contracts for about three and a half thousand liquor shops will be given in three phases. The Excise Department has invited e-tenders for composite liquor shops in all the districts and the process for the first phase is starting from tomorrow.
Monitoring will be done under the supervision of the collector
This time the government has increased the reserve price by about 20 percent compared to last year. According to officials, the allocation of shops will be done for the period from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. The District Execution Committee formed under the chairmanship of the Collector at the district level will monitor the entire e-tender process.
What is the new arrangement?
Under the new system, except wine shops and airport counters, all other shops will be composite, that is, both domestic and foreign liquor will be sold from the same shop. Also, drinking alcohol while sitting at any shop will not be allowed. The government argues that this will make the system more transparent and controlled. In the first phase, online tenders can be downloaded and offers can be submitted from 27th February to 1st March. E-tenders will be opened on March 2 at 2 pm. After this, the online bidding process will run within the stipulated time period and the allotment process will be completed by the evening of the same day. The second and third phase of the process will be completed between March 3 and 5 and March 6 and 7 respectively.
