Voting is to be held on 2 seats in Telangana also. Till now the victory of Congress on these two seats was considered certain, but now the game is changing and the people are getting angry. In this state, BJP is not in a position to challenge Congress, but Bharat Rashtra Samiti leader K. Chandrashekhar Rao has decided to field a candidate. These news are bound to shock the Congress leadership, which is already not in a position to win seats in most of the states. Two seats are becoming vacant in April. Till now Congress was assuming in Telangana that these two seats would be easily won.
But the way KCR has tried to change the equation regarding Rajya Sabha elections in the state, Congress has come under tension. Now it must have become clear to Congress that the contest will be decided by mathematics, alliance and many other things. There are reports in the media that KCR wants to field some famous person. According to assembly records, KCR has a total of 37 MLAs. Out of these, there are 10 MLAs who have gone to Congress and the case is going on regarding their disqualification. In this matter, the Speaker has rejected BRS’s objection against 8 MLAs. The case against two is still pending in the tribunal.
If a party wants to win a Rajya Sabha seat, it needs 41 MLAs. If all its own MLAs remain with BRS, which claims a total of 37 MLAs, then BRS will need only 4 separate MLAs. At present the news is that BRS is in talks with those parties with whose support this figure can be achieved. Congress has 66 MLAs in the state. Apart from this, one CPI MLA also supports Congress. Till now she was assuming that BRS would stay away from the competition. But when KCR saw the situation of getting a Rajya Sabha seat, then he thought it best to enter the contest.
At present the whole matter is stuck on who will go with those 10 MLAs who have rebelled against BRS. Apart from this, BJP and OVC have also set their sights on AIMIM. Owaisi has a total of 7 MLAs in the state, while BJP also has the support of 8. In this way the competition can be quite complicated. It is clear that Congress may get one seat easily, but winning the second seat can be a difficult task. In fact, the internal discord of Congress is also making the situation difficult for it. Abhishek Manu Singhvi can be sent again on one of the two seats. Now regarding the second seat, the name of CM’s advisor V. Narendra Reddy is also in discussion for that. Apart from this, retired judge Justice Sudarshan Reddy is also in the contest.
