Powerful initiative for tourism awareness among youth
Through the ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ initiative, students have developed a sense of interest and pride in the cultural and natural heritage of India. This event not only provides a platform to creative talent but also connects the youth with the possibilities of a bright future in the tourism and hospitality sector. ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ initiative of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India is an important national campaign launched in the year 2020, which aims to introduce the countrymen to India’s rich cultural heritage, historical heritage, natural beauty and diverse traditions and to promote domestic tourism. Through this initiative, citizens are motivated to visit various tourist destinations in their own country, so that they can know the amazing diversity of India closely and contribute to strengthening the local economy. Under the ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ campaign, webinar series, online quiz competitions, virtual tours, creative competitions and programs related to tourism education are organized. The initiative also aims to make the youth and students especially aware of the career opportunities available in the tourism and hospitality sector. Besides, efforts are also made to give national identity to the less famous but promising tourist destinations of the country through digital mediums and public participation. Thus, the ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ initiative not only strengthens the sense of pride and awareness among the citizens towards their country, but also makes a significant contribution towards economic development by providing new energy to the tourism industry.
