Firozabad: A horrific road accident took place on Agra-Lucknow Expressway on Thursday. Near kilometer 41+400 (LHS) in Matsena police station area, the speeding Swift car suddenly lost control and collided with the divider. The collision was so strong that the car was badly damaged and all the people in it were seriously injured.
In the accident, Harpal Singh, son of Major Singh, resident of village Sainibal of Barnala district of Punjab, died during treatment. The car driver Hardeep Sharma, son of Vijay Kumar, resident of village Raisar, police station Mehar Kala, district Barnala, Lakhwinder Singh son of Puran Singh, resident of Gurma, police station Fullibal, district Barnala and one other person were seriously injured. The injured were immediately sent to Trauma Center Firozabad with the help of Ambulance 108 and other emergency services, where they are undergoing treatment. The condition of one injured is said to be very critical.
According to preliminary information, all the car riders were going from Punjab to Lucknow to buy machine parts. It is suspected that the accident occurred due to the driver dozing off.
As soon as information about the accident was received, the police team reached the spot during night patrolling. Relief and rescue work was started by immediately calling UPEIDA, PRV 5619, SSD team, safety team and crane. The injured were quickly taken out and sent to the hospital.
The police removed the damaged car number PB 01 F 1163 from the road and parked it on the yellow strip and later instructed to send it to Matsena police station, so that the traffic is not disrupted. After the incident, there was chaos on the expressway for some time, however, due to the promptness of the teams, the traffic was soon normalized.
The police is investigating the entire matter and the exact reasons for the accident are being ascertained.
