India-China trade reaches record level
In fact, in an event on the occasion of Chinese New Year held in New Delhi on Tuesday (03 February), China’s Ambassador to India Xu Feihong said that trade between the two countries has reached a record level. “Last August, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a successful meeting in Tianjin, which has taken China-India relations from a ‘fresh start’ to a new level of improvement,” Xu Feihong said at the 2026 Chinese New Year celebrations. Exchanges at all levels have become more regular. Economic and trade cooperation has reached new heights. Exchange between people has become more active.
Bilateral trade reached 155.6 billion dollars
Giving information, he said that there has been continuous improvement in bilateral relations. Bilateral trade between China and India reached a record high of US$155.6 billion in 2025, an increase of more than 12 percent over the previous year. India’s exports to China increased by 9.7 percent, demonstrating the immense potential for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. The Chinese Ambassador further said that China’s emphasis on self-reliance at the national level matches India’s Self-reliant India strategy. Along with this, the Ambassador said that this increase in trade is a clear sign of improvement in relations between the two countries.
Program organized on Chinese New Year in Kolkata
The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, organized the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) 2026.
