Beef served instead of mutton in Kolkata pub, Brahmin actor Saik Chakraborty alleges, waiter arrested

New Delhi . Actor Sayak Chakraborty had gone for dinner with his friends at a famous pub on Park Street on Friday night. According to Sayak, he had ordered ‘Mutton steak’, but the dish served to him was beef. Sayak claims that he also consumed it unknowingly. Let us tell you that this incident happened at ‘Oly’, a popular pub located in Park Street, the most famous area of ​​Kolkata. In this case, the police took immediate action and arrested the waiter on Saturday.

The dispute began when another mutton steak was brought to the table, even though Sayak had only ordered one steak. When he questioned the waiter, the waiter claimed that he had ordered two steaks, one of mutton and one of beef. Sayak says that he was stunned to hear this because being a Hindu Brahmin, his religious sentiments were deeply hurt.

Sayak shared the video of this entire incident on social media, in which he is seen demanding answers from the waiter and manager. In the video, the manager is seen apologizing, calling it a serious mistake. Park Street police registered a case based on the complaint and arrested waiter Sheikh Naseeruddin under section 299 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).

As soon as the video went viral, a debate broke out on the internet. Many users accused Sayak of spreading communal tension and running a political agenda. Seeing the controversy growing, Sayak deleted his old video and issued a new clarification. In his clarification, Sayak Chakraborty said, “My aim is not to incite Hindu-Muslim riots. I have many Muslim friends and I also celebrate Eid at their houses. My reaction was purely emotional because my religion was unknowingly corrupted. I have no connection with any political party.”

Sayak clarified that his anger was not towards any particular religion, but towards the negligence of the restaurant. He said that the restaurant may be crowded at night, but such mistakes cannot be ignored because the same can happen to someone else in the future. According to senior Kolkata Police officials, investigation into the case is ongoing and food samples from the restaurant may be tested to confirm the allegations.
