Raipur : Fulfilling the resolve of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai for “Good Governance” and “Antyodaya”, the expansion of health facilities in the remote Naxal affected areas of Sukma district is continuing. In this series, under the guidance of the district administration and health department, new light has been brought into the lives of 14 cataract patients of the district by providing them successful treatment.
Journey from interior villages to medical college
Under the government’s ambitious “Niyad Nellanar” (Your Good Village) scheme, patients from remote villages like Mukarram, Patelpara, Sarpanchpara and Kistaram, located in Konta development block, were identified through special health camps. These 14 identified patients were sent to Jagdalpur Medical College for better treatment by arranging a special vehicle by the district administration, where their successful operation was completed.
After the operation, all the patients have been brought safely from Jagargunda and Kistaram to District Hospital Sukma under the supervision of Eye Assistant. According to doctors, the patients will be kept under the observation of experts in the district hospital for the next 4 days for their recovery and better follow-up. During this period, free arrangements for accommodation and food for the patients have been made by the district administration.
This effort of the Health Department and the District Administration shows that through the Niyya Nellanar Scheme, the schemes of the government are no longer limited to papers only, but are directly reaching the last person in the remote forest areas. The patients recovering have expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister, Health Minister and the district administration for this sensitive initiative.
