More than 2 thousand people got pharmacist license through online verification of applications sitting at home
Bhopal/ 3 January 2026 Madhya Pradesh government is committed to making citizen services simple and easy. Modern technologies are being used for this. As per the intention of the state government, Madhya Pradesh Pharmacy Council has digitized all its processes. With the successful implementation of digital systems like medicine tracking, online licensing, all the stakeholders are easily getting the facilities. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla said that this digital innovation by Madhya Pradesh Pharmacy Council strongly reflects the state government’s commitment to digital governance and citizen-centric service. The Council has successfully moved from a manual and discretionary system to a rule-based, automated and technology-driven system. Simplification, transparency and timeliness of the processes of pharmacist registration and renewal are providing convenience to the youth and professionals, and are also proving helpful in building a strong and reliable database. He congratulated the council members and departmental officers for this effort and called for ensuring continuous delivery of high quality facilities with transparency.
Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Pharmacy Council, Shri Sanjay Jain said that comprehensive digital and systemic reforms have been implemented with the aim of making the processes related to pharmacist registration, renewal and pharmacy registration simple, transparent, time-bound, citizen-centric and legal. All these reforms are in accordance with the provisions of the Pharmacy Act, 1948 and the Pharmacy Council of India, which has made the functioning of the Council more effective, accountable and modern. 2 thousand 889 cases were resolved in the year 2023, 2 thousand 297 in the year 2024, 970 during January to May 2025 and 5 thousand 536 cases were resolved during June to December 2025. In the year 2025, proceedings were completed in more than 6,500 cases. During the same period, more than 8 thousand applications were processed by the Council, which is about two and a half to three times more than in previous years. As a result of effective implementation of e-digital and pre-verification based system, registered pharmacist certificate was issued to 2 thousand 199 candidates sitting at home, without coming to the council office. In this process, verification of educational qualifications is being done automatically through DigiLocker, verification of applicant’s identity through the API of Samagra ID, Domicile and FDA License, which has resulted in significant savings in time, travel and financial expenses of the candidates.
Earlier, the registration and renewal processes were manual and paper-based, with applications accepted without pre-verification and mandatory physical verification of documents. Due to verification of educational qualifications being received from colleges through post or mail, the cases remained pending for a long time. This resulted in problems like increase in pendency of cases, excessive paper work, dependence on employee discretion and data inconsistency. In the present system, completely online and standardized modules have been implemented for registration, renewal and correction. The facility of application and fee payment has been provided only after pre-verification in registration. The renewal process has been made transparent and in case of difference in name, father’s name or date of birth, application has been allowed through soft verification. Additionally, legacy data is being purified and updated through a dedicated online correction module for correction in entries such as name, father’s name and date of birth. These digital and systemic reforms have resulted in significant reduction in pendency of cases, ensured quality, uniformity and reliability of data and increased transparency and accountability along with reduction in administrative burden. A strong, secure and future-oriented digital database has been created.
