Bhopal : Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that milk production of the state should also be made the basis for expansion of industrial activities. There are immense employment opportunities in milk production and its processing and marketing. Along with this, milk production is also effectively helpful in increasing the income of farmers. Sanchi brand should be expanded as much as possible by conducting activities in a coordinated manner in all the districts. Govansh and Gopal should be included in the branding of Sanchi products. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav gave these instructions in the meeting of the State Level Steering Committee formed under the agreement between Madhya Pradesh State Co-operative Dairy Federation and National Dairy Development Board. Senior MLA Hemant Khandelwal, Additional Chief Secretary Neeraj Mandloi, Additional Chief Secretary Manish Rastogi, Principal Secretary Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Umakant Umrao and officials of the National Dairy Development Board were present in the meeting held at Samatva Bhawan, Chief Minister’s residence.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that in view of the important role of milk production in increasing the income of farmers, activities should be conducted up to the village level with the aim of increasing the efficiency and capacity of farmers to encourage milk production. It is also necessary to ensure that there is strong monitoring of the milk collection system. Milk purchase prices should be profitable for the producers and transparency in the procurement system should be ensured and milk producers should receive their payments regularly and within the time limit.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that milk production activities should be expanded in the state through private partnership on PPP mode and coordination with dairy cooperative societies. This will help in encouraging entrepreneurship in the entire state, increasing the income of farmers and giving impetus to the economy of the state. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that training and courses focused on dairy technology should be started in the industrial training institutes of the state. This will help in running the dairy plant and will also provide employment to the youth at the local level.
In the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, it was told that after the National Dairy Development Board took charge, people’s confidence in the Sanchi brand has increased and demand for starting Sanchi Dairy is coming from many places. A roster of 10 days has been fixed for regular and timely payment of milk price to milk producers. Milk purchase prices have been increased by milk unions from Rs 2 50 paise to Rs 8 50 paise per litre. So far, 1241 new milk cooperative societies have been formed and 635 inactive milk societies have been made active. To digitize the entire dairy value chain, the software has been implemented in Bhopal, Gwalior, Ujjain, Bundelkhand and Jabalpur milk unions. The system of mobile app has been implemented from Indore Milk Union for milk collection. Due to which information about quantity, quality and price of milk is available immediately.
It was told in the meeting that by the year 2029-30, 52 lakh kg of milk will be produced per day to expand the dairy cooperative coverage to 26 thousand villages. Activities are being conducted with the target of milk collection, milk sales of 35 lakh liters per day and processing capacity of 63.3 lakh liters per day. The process has been started to start the Shivpuri Dairy Plant which was closed for the last 2 years. An investment of Rs 5 crore will be made to restart the 10 metric tonne capacity cheese plant established in Jabalpur. A 30 metric tonne capacity milk powder plant has been started in Indore. Through this, 3 lakh liters of milk is being processed daily. The process of strengthening the Gwalior Dairy Plant has also been started.
In the meeting, National Dairy Development Board Chairman Meenesh Shah, Executive Director, S. Raghupati, General Manager Jignesh Shah, Managing Director of MP State Co-operative Dairy Federation Dr. Sanjay Goswami, Group Head Aseem Nigam, Group Head Dr. Shubhankar Nanda, Director of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department Dr. P.S. Patel, and other officers were present.
