According to the Hindu calendar, this time the Ekadashi tithi of Paush Shukla Paksha is starting from 2:51 am on 30th December. On this day, Suryodaya Vyappini Ekadashi Tithi is available throughout the day. In such a situation, people of both Shaiva and Vaishnav sects will observe Ekadashi fast on 30th December and worship Lord Vishnu. By observing fast on all Ekadashis for a year, a person gets freedom from known and unknown sins. Therefore this fast is considered especially auspicious.

How to worship on this day
Along with observing fast on the day of Putrada Ekadashi, the special importance of worshiping Shaligram has also been mentioned in the scriptures. Shaligram is considered to be the form of Lord Vishnu. On this day, fragrant liquid should be offered to Shaligram. Decorate with lotus flowers and basil leaves. During this time, sandalwood paste should also be applied. Then worship should be done by lighting incense sticks and ghee lamp. By doing this a person attains wealth, prosperity and happiness. Sri Hari Vishnu also fulfills the wishes of human beings.
