It is a big mistake to understand RSS from BJP’s point of view: Mohan Bhagwat

Kolkata: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Sunday that comparison or trying to understand Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) from a political perspective often leads to misunderstandings.

Addressing a program organized on the occasion of centenary celebrations of RSS in Kolkata, Bhagwat said that it would be wrong to see RSS as just another service organisation. He said, “If you want to understand ‘Sangh’, comparisons will lead to misunderstandings. If you consider ‘Sangh’ to be just another service organisation, you will be wrong.”

Bhagwat also cautioned against linking RSS only with BJP. Bhagwat said, “Many people understand ‘Sangh’ from the BJP’s perspective, which is a big mistake.”

He claimed that some people spread “falsehoods and outright lies” about the Sangh. “As the union grows, some fear their benefits will be at risk.

He said, “Many people know the name of the Sangh, but not its work, which leads to misunderstandings. We do not want to force anyone to follow the Sangh. People are free to form their views, but those views should be based on facts, not imagination or secondary sources.”

Bhagwat said that the Sangh has no enemies, but there are some people “whose small selfish shops” will be closed as the organization grows. He said that a person has the right to form an opinion about the RSS, but it should be based on facts and not on “stories and information from secondary sources”.

Bhagwat said, “Lectures and conversation sessions have been organized in four cities of the country to bring the reality before the people.”

He said that RSS has no political agenda, and the Sangh works for the betterment and security of Hindu society. He said the country would again become a ‘Vishwaguru’, and “it is the duty of the Sangh to prepare the society for this purpose.” The RSS is conducting such sessions in Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru as part of the centenary celebrations.
