Bhopal : Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that farmers are the pillars of the economy of our state. Our markets are buzzing because of their tireless hard work. We are celebrating the year 2026 as Farmer Welfare Year. This year will prove to be a milestone in the history of the state in terms of the welfare and overall welfare of the farmers. He said that this year will link the entire value addition chain ‘from farm to factory and from orchard to market’. This year, we will take every step including development of more and more employment-based industries for processing and value addition of agricultural products, increase in improved seed production, animal husbandry, milk production, fish production, which will lead to the development of agriculture and farmers. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the ‘Krishi Manthan and Agricultural Technology Fair 2026’ being held at Agricultural University Campus, Gwalior through video conferencing from the Chief Minister’s residence on Monday.

Referring to the works related to National River Linking Project in the state, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that irrigation facilities are expanding rapidly in the state. Our government is making all efforts to increase the production of medicinal and spice crops in the state. We are going to bring agricultural production export policy soon. We will also increase research work in agriculture. He said that we will leave no stone unturned to make farming and fruit farming a profitable business.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the nectar that will emerge from this agricultural churning will help us in taking effective and efficient steps for the welfare of farmers. ‘Krishi Manthan’ Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Agricultural University, Gwalior, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi and Agriculture Department, M.P. It is being done under the joint auspices of the government.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the Krishi Manthan being organized on the theme of “Prosperous Farmers-Prosperous State” will definitely help the farmers in bringing necessary improvements and changes in farming. He said that our government is focusing on creating massive employment through value-chain development, processing, technology adoption and promoting entrepreneurship of rural youth in modern agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries sectors. Technological innovation, diversification and policy support will not only increase productivity in these areas, but will also create a market-oriented and profitable system for farmers in the field of marketing and processing. Apart from agriculture, we are also moving forward with new thinking in the fields of horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries and cooperatives. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that today agriculture is facing increasing risks of climate change. In this brainstorming, senior scientists from various agricultural institutions of the country will brainstorm ideas and pave the way for the development of new technologies.

Secretary Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department Nishant Varwade, Secretary Transport and Commissioner Public Relations Manish Singh from Bhopal participated in the video conferencing. In this agricultural churning being held in the university campus, Vice Chancellor of Agricultural University, Gwalior, Prof. (Dr.) Arvind Kumar Shukla, Vice Chancellor of Acharya Narendra Dev University of Agriculture and Technology, Ayodhya, Dr. Brajendra Singh, Vice Chancellor of University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, Karnataka, Dr. P.L. Patil, Director of Indian Agricultural Systems Research Institute, Modipuram, Meerut, Dr. Sunil Kumar, scientists from various agricultural institutes of the country, officials of ICAR and agriculture officials were also present.
