Bhopal : Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that urban development projects in the state should be implemented keeping in mind the goal of Developed India @2047. Special attention should be paid to improving the economic condition of urban bodies, increasing private investment in urban areas, maximum use of information technology based systems in civil services, encouraging urban mobility and use of e-vehicles. Similar to ‘Namami Ganga Abhiyan’, work on ‘Namami Narmade Project’ should be started and an action plan should be prepared for solid and liquid waste management, environmental improvement and re-use of treated water in the urban settlements on the banks of river Narmada. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that special awareness and vigilance should be taken towards water supply and sewerage systems in all urban bodies. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was presiding over the 11th meeting of the Board of Directors of Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Company Limited in Mantralaya on Tuesday. Minister of State for Urban Development and Housing Pratima Bagri, Chief Secretary Anurag Jain and officials of the Board of Directors were present in the meeting. In the meeting, necessary decisions were taken after discussing the managerial, financial and audit and audit related issues of the company.
In the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, MP for urban development in the state. Approval was given to the proposal of formation of 4 independent business divisions in the Urban Development Company. It is proposed to form divisions for asset management and PPP mode, information technology, urban mobility and Namami Narmade and green cover and river conservation. Under the asset management and PPP division, priority will be given to making urban bodies self-reliant, encouraging private investment in public welfare works, financial discipline, coordination with NITI Aayog and other related departments and metropolitan area development planning. It also proposes innovations like solar projects, green bonds, alternative use of unused assets. Smart city systems like e-Municipality system, CCTV-GIS based monitoring system, upgradation of citizen service platform, toll collection e-portal and online revenue collection will be operated under the Information Technology Division.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav gave instructions to prepare a plan for the planned development of the areas around the urban bodies of the state. Considering the cultural and religious importance of Narmada and Tapi rivers, he gave instructions to prepare an action plan for the holistic and all-round development of the rivers. He said that like ‘Namami Gange’, ‘Namami Narmade Project’ should be implemented by all concerned departments in a coordinated manner. Urban Development and Housing Department, Panchayat and Rural Department, Industry Department, Forest and Environment Department have important roles in this.
It was informed in the meeting that Madhya Pradesh EV policy implementation, multi-modal transport hub, ropeway, multi-level parking, public bicycle service, city mobility plan and e-vehicle charging infrastructure will be created under the Urban Mobility Division.
Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, Sanjay Dubey, Deepali Rastogi, Principal Secretary Sukhbir Singh, P. Narhari, Commissioner Urban Administration and Housing Sanket Bhondve and other officials of the company were present in the meeting.
