Raipur : Mahtari Vandan Yojana, started under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai in the direction of strengthening the economic independence, self-respect and decisive role of women in the society in Chhattisgarh, is today emerging as an effective and far-reaching initiative of women empowerment. This scheme is not only providing regular financial assistance to women, but is also connecting them with new opportunities for self-employment and livelihood, making them self-reliant.
Story of women empowerment from economic strength to self-reliance
Under the scheme, a fixed assistance amount of Rs 1,000 per month is being transferred directly into the bank accounts of eligible women. Till now, a total amount of Rs 14,948 crore 34 lakh has been provided in 23 installments to lakhs of women of the state. With this regular support, women’s worries about household expenses have reduced, their self-confidence has increased and they have started playing an active role in financial decisions.
Steps towards self-employment
The most positive aspect of Mahtari Vandan Yojana is that women are making good use of this assistance amount and starting small businesses. Urmila Yadav, a resident of ward number 02 of Champa Nagar of Janjgir-Champa district, started the business of artificial jewelery by saving the amount she received every month. Today she is earning an additional income of about Rs 2,000 per month by selling jewelery from home and in the weekly market.
Similarly, Jyoti Kaser of Champa started papad business with the help of the scheme, from which she is earning a profit of about Rs 5,000 per month. With this, they are able to easily meet the education and health needs of their families. Sumitra Karsh of village Sarhar earned an additional income of about Rs 1,000 per month by starting a makeup shop, while Kusum Devi Pandey is now earning a profit of Rs 2,000 every month by expanding her makeup shop.
stability in the lives of poor families
This scheme is also becoming the basis of economic security for families dependent on wages and limited income. Satrupa Gandharva, a resident of Mazgaon village in Kabirdham district, who belongs to a wage-dependent family, has so far received Rs 23,000 in 23 installments under the scheme. She says that with this amount children’s education, domestic needs and personal
Requirements are easily fulfilled. With regular help, she is now able to make some savings, due to which the worry about unexpected expenses has ended. Omalata, who belongs to an ordinary farmer family of village Raghunathnagar in Balrampur district, has also benefited from this scheme and has moved towards self-reliance.
Increase in respect and participation of women
Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Rajwade said that Mahtari Vandan Yojana is an initiative to bring stability, respect and confidence in the lives of women. With regular financial support, women are playing an active role in the needs of the family and their participation in economic decisions has increased. He has instructed the officials to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach every eligible woman in a timely and transparent manner.
Mahtari Vandan Yojana today is not just an economic assistance program but has become a strong foundation of women’s dreams, self-reliance and social empowerment. This scheme is giving an opportunity to the women of the state to move forward with confidence and is giving Chhattisgarh a new identity in the field of women empowerment.
