PM Modi in Somnath Mandir: Today is the last day of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who reached Gujarat on a three-day tour. After the conclusion of ‘Shaurya Yatra’, PM Modi offered prayers at Somnath temple. After this addressed the gathering. PM Modi also led the symbolic procession ‘Shaurya Yatra’ organized on the occasion of Somnath Swabhiman Parv at Gir Somnath on Sunday morning. During this, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi were also present along with PM Modi.
After offering prayers at Somnath temple, PM Modi talked to ‘Rishikumar’ present there. During this, he greeted thousands of devotees who had come there and while leaving the Somnath temple, PM Modi played Damru.
PM Modi said, “I am fortunate that I got the opportunity to serve on this occasion as a trustee of the Somnath Temple Trust. Today when I am talking to you, the question is coming to my mind again and again that what would have been the atmosphere at this very place, exactly 1000 years ago? Our ancestors sacrificed everything for their faith, their faith, their Mahadev. 1000 years ago, those invaders were thinking that they have conquered us. Even after 1000 years, the flag flying on the temple of Somnath Mahadev is calling the entire universe to know what is the power of India, what is its capability. Every particle here is a witness to bravery and courage.
Time, atmosphere, celebration wonderful: PM Modi
He said, “This time is wonderful. This atmosphere is wonderful. This festival is wonderful. On one hand, Mahadev himself, on the other hand, the huge waves of the sea, the rays of the sun, this echo of mantras, this surge of faith and the presence of all you devotees of Lord Somnath in this divine atmosphere is making this occasion divine and grand.”
Studded with ‘Soma’ meaning ‘nectar’
PM Modi said, “When all the invaders from Mahmud Ghazni to Aurangzeb were attacking Somnath, they were feeling that their sword was conquering Sanatan Somnath, those religious fundamentalists could not understand that the Somnath which they wanted to destroy, has ‘Som’ i.e. ‘Amrit’ embedded in its name itself. On top of it in the form of Sadashiv Mahadev, that living power is established which is also beneficial and also a source of power. There is also a source.”
Thousands of years old holy place near India
PM Modi said, “If a country has a 100 years old heritage, then that country presents it to the world by making it its identity, whereas India has thousands of years old holy places like Somnath. But unfortunately, after independence, people with the mentality of slavery tried to distance themselves from them, efforts were made to forget that history. We know what sacrifices the country had made to protect Somnath. History of so many heroes, Somnath temple. But unfortunately it was never given that much importance, rather an attempt was made to whitewash the history of the invasion by some politicians and historians.”
