Bhopal. The ongoing controversy regarding recruitment to academic posts in government nursing colleges of Madhya Pradesh has ended after today’s hearing. After hearing the petitions filed in the High Court, the Staff Selection Board has issued amendments in the recruitment advertisement and allowed male candidates to also apply.
MPESB removed the condition of 100 percent reservation
Along with this, the condition of 100 percent women reservation which was implemented earlier has been removed. Now male candidates will be able to apply for these posts till January 13. After the release of the revised advertisement, eligible male candidates across the state have got great relief. In fact, in the recruitment advertisement released on December 16, direct recruitment was done for a total of 286 academic posts in the government nursing colleges of the state under the Public Health and Family Welfare Department. Of these, 40 posts were for Associate Professor, 28 posts were for Assistant Professor and 218 posts were for Sister Tutor.
What is the whole matter?
In this advertisement, all 286 posts were completely reserved for women. Due to this, eligible male candidates were completely left out of the recruitment process. Many eligible male candidates approached the Madhya Pradesh High Court against 100 percent women’s reservation in recruitment. In the petition, the recruitment process was challenged, saying it was against the Constitution and prevailing rules. It was argued on behalf of the petitioners that under the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (Special Provisions for Appointment of Women) Rules, 1997, only a maximum of 35 percent reservation can be given to women in government services. Despite this, reserving all posts for women by the department is a clear violation of the rules. It was also said in the petition that no discrimination on the basis of gender is allowed in the departmental recruitment rules and the parameters of the Indian Nursing Council. Despite this, the Public Health and Family Welfare Department has violated Articles 14, 15 and 16 of the Constitution by implementing 100 percent women’s reservation.
