Narayanpur: A mass wedding ceremony of surrendered Maoists was organized today in the high school grounds of the district, in which Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai attended as the chief guest. The Chief Minister blessed the four newly married couples who have returned to the mainstream of society and wished them a happy and bright future.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai said that leaving the path of violence and conflict and returning to the mainstream is a symbol of courage, wisdom and positive thinking. He said that the state government is fully committed to the rehabilitation, education, employment and social respect of the surrendered Maoists.
Addressing the newlyweds, the Chief Minister said that it is the priority of the government to connect the dedicated youth with the society through social events like marriage. This ceremony is not just a wedding ceremony, but a powerful symbol of faith, rehabilitation and the beginning of a new life with human sensibilities.
During the programme, all the traditional rituals of marriage were performed in the presence of the administration and various sections of the society. Happiness and confidence were clearly visible on the faces of the newly married couples.
The Chief Minister said that mere action of security forces is not enough to establish peace in areas like Bastar and Narayanpur, but social rehabilitation and creating an environment of trust is equally necessary. The Maoists who returned to the mainstream after surrendering are now living a normal and respectable life, which is a positive message for the entire state.
He also informed that under the rehabilitation policy of the state government, the surrendered Maoists are being provided accommodation, skill training, employment and necessary facilities, so that they can become self-reliant.
Local public representatives, senior officials, police-administration officials and a large number of villagers were present in this event. This mass marriage ceremony is being seen as a new example of peace, development and humanitarian approach not only in Narayanpur but in the entire Bastar region.
