Madhya Pradesh is becoming a leader in dealing with climate change: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Bhopal : Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that climate change is a serious global challenge. Climate change is a question related to human survival, economic stability and the future of future generations. He said that in the path of sustainable development we cannot ignore the environment. Establishing a balance between development and environmental protection is the basic basis of progress. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stressed that the need of the hour is to work on concrete and time-bound solutions in the matter of climate change. He said that the contribution of the states is also important in India’s commitments regarding climate change. Madhya Pradesh is playing the role of a leader in dealing with climate change by becoming the largest producer of renewable energy. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is leading among the fastest developing states of the country. There has been rapid development in almost every field here. While giving confidence and guarantee of security to the investors willing to invest in Madhya Pradesh in the field of renewable energy, he said that the state and the investors together will make the country self-reliant in the matter of renewable energy. He said that Madhya Pradesh is moving rapidly towards providing 24 hours electricity. Our relationship with investors will take business in the renewable energy sector to new heights.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing Climate Week-2026 in Mumbai on Wednesday evening. On this occasion, an MoU was signed between the New and Renewable Energy Department (Madhya Pradesh Government) and Sequoia Climate Foundation, famous for green energy, in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav for the development of new and renewable energy sector in Madhya Pradesh.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the challenge of climate change cannot be solved by only one country, one state or one government, for this national and international cooperation is very necessary. He said that Mumbai Climate Week is an important platform to move forward for energy transition, green development and climate solutions. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stressed the need for immediate and collective efforts to reduce carbon emissions. He said that promoting clean sources of energy, adopting green technologies and balanced use of natural resources is the path of future development. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the responsibility of keeping the earth safe and balanced is not only of the governments but also of the industries, institutions and every citizen living in this country. He appealed to adopt behavioral changes like ‘lifestyle for environment’ by linking environmental protection with public participation.

Giving information about the innovations of the Madhya Pradesh government towards tackling climate change through green energy production, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is one of the leading states of India, which has made its own identity in the renewable energy sector. He said that Madhya Pradesh is the first state which has made an EV policy, which is an effective step towards climate change. The Chief Minister said that our government is working on 24×7 hours renewable energy battery based energy storage project in Madhya Pradesh including 300 MW 4 hours solar-cum energy storage project, 300 MW 6 hours solar-cum energy project. This is a new experiment. This is the first project of its kind in India. Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country, which is moving in this direction.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that there has been an unprecedented increase in the renewable energy capacity of Madhya Pradesh in the last 12 years. An annual growth of 48 percent has been recorded in solar energy and 19 percent in wind energy. Through big projects of renewable energy, we have helped Madhya Pradesh. After meeting the needs of the Indian Railways, it has also started supplying clean energy to the neighboring states and Indian Railways. He told that Omkareshwar Floating Solar Project is the world’s largest floating solar project. This is a project in which we have not allowed any citizen to be displaced, energy production has also started in this project.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Sanchi in Madhya Pradesh has become the country’s first solar city. We are moving towards installing solar rooftops on all government buildings. The Chief Minister said that our government, in collaboration with investors, private sector and policy makers, is moving rapidly towards making Madhya Pradesh the renewable energy hub of India. We are also providing financial and policy incentives for all renewable technologies, including solar, wind, energy storage, biofuels and green hydrogen. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav appealed to the investors to join us in the rapidly transformative journey of Madhya Pradesh. This will not only help in keeping the climate balanced, it will also take everyone’s business to new heights and will also contribute significantly to the development of Madhya Pradesh. He said that we will create a bright future for Madhya Pradesh and India along with achieving the goals of energy security, environmental protection and sustainable development.

New and Renewable Energy Minister Rakesh Shukla said that to deal with the challenges of climate change, we are moving towards battery storage based energy production. In Madhya Pradesh, work has been done on Omkareshwar Floating Solar Power Project, Ultra Mega Solar Project in Shajapur, Agar-Malwa and Rewa. Appealing to the investors, he said that Madhya Pradesh is a state of infinite possibilities. Invest here, the government is with you.

Additional Chief Secretary New and Renewable Energy Manu Srivastava said that renewable energy is an effective, cheap and reliable option for power supply. We are supplying electricity to the citizens of Madhya Pradesh at the lowest rates. He asked the investors and industrialists to tell about their needs and suggestions in the new and renewable energy sector, the government will incorporate these suggestions in all the innovations done for the development of this sector. ACS Srivastava said that Chief Minister Dr. Yadav had made a commitment to the world community at the World Economic Forum in Davos for 24×7 hour power supply in Madhya Pradesh, which we are now going to fulfill.

Imad N., Regional Director for South Asia of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), an affiliate of the World Bank Group. Fakhouri said that the Madhya Pradesh government’s progress in the renewable energy production sector is commendable. The government’s thinking and direction in the development of this sector is clear. We are impressed by Madhya Pradesh Government’s investor friendly design on 24X7 renewable energy. We will take advantage of all the characteristics and expertise of Madhya Pradesh’s renewable energy production sector at the global level. He said that we will provide all necessary support to the government for the establishment of FDRE centers in Madhya Pradesh.

Susima Paul, India Director of Sequoia Climate Foundation, said that Madhya Pradesh is a leader in the renewable energy sector. At present, work is going on to produce about 500 GW of renewable energy in Madhya Pradesh. He said that we are Madhya Pradesh’s partner and partner in the development and expansion of renewable energy. He said that in this direction today we are also signing an MoU for partnership with Madhya Pradesh.

Dr. Ashwini Kumar and Amit Singh also addressed the program. Throwed light on the developments and innovations in the renewable energy sector in Madhya Pradesh. On this occasion, environmental experts, policy makers and a large number of industry representatives from India and abroad participated. M.P.
