MP News: Even though senior party leaders have been waiting for political appointments in corporations, commissions, boards and authorities in Madhya Pradesh for two years, there has been no difference in the functioning of these institutions. During this period, expenditure of about Rs 25 crore is left on the salary, allowances, accommodation, vehicles and staff etc. of the status ministers and ministers of state.

Many loss making institutions

Many loss making corporations are proving to be white elephants on the government treasury. Moreover, such expenses are only increasing their financial plight. The total number of institutions for appointments in the state is 62. President and Vice President are also posted in some institutions. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav had canceled the appointments of 46 status ministers 4 months after taking charge of the state (February 2024). Since then, leaders have been circling Delhi for political appointments.

These are the facilities and expenses

On an average, Rs 10-12 lakh is spent annually on the salaries and allowances, accommodation, vehicles and medical facilities of ministers and ministers of state with status. At the same time, board members are eligible for allowance for meetings and travel. Honorarium for the Chairman and Vice-Chairmen and premium-medium segment car fare is Rs 50-60 thousand per month, servant, gardener, assistant, driver, fuel for traveling two-two and a half thousand kilometers. If PSO is taken then its expenses are separate.

loss-making institutions

Many corporation boards including Seed and Farm Development, Small Industries, State Civil Supply Corporation, Animal Husbandry Poultry and State Electronic Development are running in losses. Mineral and Forest Development Corporation is in profit. The authorities have accounts of profit and loss according to the schemes. BDA is currently running in profit.

If we add the expenses of the presidents and vice-presidents of 50 institutions, then in two years about Rs 24-25 would have been spent on the government treasury, which was saved. The matter of appointments is continuously getting postponed. Prominent leaders of the ruling organization have also held several meetings with the high command on this issue.

Major corporations, boards and commissions and authorities

The number of major corporations in Madhya Pradesh is one and a half dozen. These include 18 corporation boards like State Mineral Development, State Civil Supply, Small Industries, Tourism Development, State Forest Development, Seed and Farm Development, Warehousing and Logistics Corporation and Energy Development. The authority also employs 13 people. These include Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Katni, Ratlam, Singrauli, Dewas Development Authority, besides pilgrimage places and fairs, Sahariya-Dhariya and RERA. The number of commissions is 12.

Especially there are Madhya Pradesh State Policy and Planning Commission, Human Rights Commission, State Backward Class Welfare, General Class Welfare, Madhya Pradesh Yoga Commission, State Women Commission and State Migrant Workers Commission. The number of boards in the state is 19. These mainly include boards like Khadi and Village Industries, State Agricultural Marketing and Animal Husbandry Promotion, Kush-Machua-Ma Shabari, Swarnakar and Maharana Pratap Kalyan.
