Raipur : Technological innovations adopted in the paddy procurement process in Chhattisgarh are proving to be game-changers for farmers. The transparent and digital paddy procurement system has made the experience of farmers completely positive. Farmers across the state are now deducting tokens for paddy sale from home using their smartphones and avoiding crowd and hassle at procurement centres.
Umashankar Kushwaha, a farmer of Gram Panchayat Karji under Ambikapur development block of Surguja district, said that the new system has made the sale of paddy simple, fast and respectable. Kushwaha, who cultivates eight acres of paddy, is selling 150 quintals of paddy this year. He said that earlier to get the token cut, one had to go to the committee center, where farmers were troubled by waiting in queues and waiting for hours. But now farmers have started deducting tokens 24×7 from home through Tuhanr Token App, thereby saving both time and labour. He said that this system gives freedom and self-reliance to the farmers in taking decisions. After cutting the tokens as per their convenience, they directly reach the procurement centre, which has reduced the chaos and made the procurement system easier.
Praising the Karji Procurement Centre, Kushwaha said that as soon as he reached the centre, gate pass, moisture test and gunny bags were made available on time. No problems were faced as the entire process was completed within the stipulated time. He described the committee employees as cooperative and ready to serve the farmers. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, farmers in Chhattisgarh are getting the benefit of highest support price of Rs 3,100 per quintal and purchase of 21 quintals of paddy per acre. This has become a strong basis for the economic prosperity of the farmers.
Kushwaha also said that due to better income, farmers are moving towards crop diversification, which is creating new opportunities in farming with stable income. Expressing gratitude towards the farmer-centric policies of the state government, he said that today the farmers of Chhattisgarh are confident, strong and happy. Technical improvements have made paddy procurement farmer friendly.
