New Delhi: There have been speculations about the displeasure of senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor towards the party for a long time. Amid reports of resentment, Tharoor met party national president Mallikarjun Kharge and former president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday. After a long meeting, Tharoor said that everything is fine and everyone is together.
This meeting took place in the office of Mallikarjun Kharge located in Parliament House. Tharoor, Lok Sabha MP from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, described this meeting as very good, meaningful and positive. After meeting with top leaders, he said, “Everything is fine and we are all moving forward together.”
Tharoor said, “We had talks with two leaders of my party, Leader of Opposition (Rahul Gandhi) and Congress President (Kharge). We had a very good, constructive, positive conversation. Now all is well and we are all working together. What else can I say? I have always campaigned for the party, where have I not campaigned?”
Regarding the possibility of campaigning during the assembly elections to be held in Kerala in the next few months, Shashi Tharoor said, “I have always campaigned, I will continue to campaign in future also.”
He denied his claim for the post of Chief Minister of Kerala and said that this was never an issue for him. On whether there was talk about the Kerala Chief Minister, he said, “No, it was never talked about. I have no interest in becoming a candidate for anything. I am already an MP and my voters from Thiruvananthapuram have faith in me. I have to look after their interests in Parliament, that is my job.” He says that I am not a candidate for the post of Chief Minister, I am already an MP.
There have been speculations about Shashi Tharoor’s displeasure for a long time. Earlier recently, Congress MP Tharoor refused to comment on the reports in which there were speculations about his inclination towards the Communist Party of India (CPM).
Speculations have started since he kept distance from many Congress meetings. Recently, when he did not attend an important meeting, he explained that the invitation came to him so late that he had no option to change his already scheduled program. This meeting was recently organized at Sonia Gandhi’s residence.
