Raipur : Dhamtari district is emerging as a powerful and inspiring model of White Revolution in Chhattisgarh. Due to the well-thought-out strategy of the district administration, active participation of cattle herders and strong cooperative structure, a significant increase in milk production and collection has been recorded in the district. This change is giving a new direction to rural life not only economically but also at the social and nutritional level. “There are immense possibilities of animal husbandry and milk production in Dhamtari district. All the cattle farmers should join the dairy business in an organized manner and make the White Revolution the identity of Dhamtari.
In the last two months, the daily milk collection of the district has increased from 6,410 liters to more than 10,000 liters per day. The district administration has set a target of increasing it to 15,000 liters per day in the coming time. The action plan prepared under the leadership of the Collector has taken the dairy business beyond its traditional form and established it as a modern, organized and profitable enterprise.
Strong milk cooperative societies become the pivot of success
To realize the potential of milk production in the district, cattle farmers are increasingly being linked to milk producer-collector cooperative societies. While two months ago only 47 committees were active, now this number has increased to 68. About 30 thousand milk producers and collectors have joined these committees. Continuous increase in milk collection has been ensured by reviving long-dormant societies.
Trust increased through digital payments
To ensure timely payment to cattle farmers, the facility of micro ATM has been started in the committees. With payments being made directly into bank accounts, transparency has increased and confidence in the milk business has been strengthened. This initiative is also becoming an effective example of rural digital empowerment.
Strong infrastructure, direct access to market
With the help of National Dairy Development Board, a strong system of milk collection, cooling and processing has been developed in the district.
At present three milk chilling plants are operating at Semra B, Bhathagaon and Muzgahan. The fourth chilling plant in Kurud area has received the approval of the state government. Besides, preparations are on to start the milk processing plant constructed in Gaatapar Gram Panchayat soon, due to which value addition will be possible at the local level.
Financial assistance and technical support
To make animal husbandry self-reliant, Animal Husbandry Kisan Credit Cards are being provided. Till now, approximately 1,500 cases have been prepared and bank assistance has been provided. Artificial insemination program is being run in 44 institutions of the district, which has resulted in improvement in the breed of animals and qualitative increase in milk production.
expansion to remote areas
The profit of milk business will no longer be limited to Dhamtari and Kurud. New milk committees are also being formed in remote areas like Magarlod and Nagari, so that more and more cattle farmers can join the organized milk business.
Technical Guidance and Animal Health Services
Training on low-cost scientific techniques is being imparted by the Animal Husbandry Department. The team of veterinarians is ensuring deworming, lice control, treatment of insured animals and balanced nutritional management. The health level of rural families is also improving due to clean milk production and nutritional awareness.
New example of rural prosperity
Today, milk production in Dhamtari is not only a source of income but has become a strong basis of rural socio-economic empowerment. This initiative is also creating new self-employment opportunities for youth and women.
