Raipur : Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, during his visit to Nagpur on Saturday, had an important meeting with the Road Transport and Highways Minister of the Government of India, Nitin Gadkari, and requested for approval to upgrade the approximately 122 km long section of National Highway-30 (NH-30) from Dhwaipani (Chilfi) to Simga via Kawardha to 4-lane and construction of Kawardha Bypass (4L+PS). Union Minister Gadkari accepted this proposal positively and assured of necessary action soon.

He told Union Minister Gadkari that recently about 160 km of NH-30 from Jabalpur to Mandla and Chilfi was opened. Approval has been given to develop the section into 4-lane. At present the road from Chilfi (Dhwaipani) to Kawardha and from Kawardha Gurunala to Simga is constructed as a 2-lane road of 10 meter width. At present there is heavy traffic of commercial and heavy vehicles on the Chilfi to Raipur route. After the Jabalpur-Mandla-Chilfi section becomes 4-lane, the traffic pressure is likely to increase further on the further 2-lane section. In such a situation, from the point of view of public safety and ease of traffic, it has become extremely necessary to upgrade the entire section from Dhwaipani (Chilfi) to Simga (Raipur) to 4-lane.

District Kabirdham headquarters Kawardha is situated on NH-30 between Jabalpur and Raipur. This interstate route is very important from commercial, social and political point of view, where heavy goods vehicles move every day.
Deputy Chief Minister Sharma also demanded construction of Kawardha Bypass (4 lanes with paved shoulders) to reduce heavy traffic pressure in Kawardha city and ensure public safety. He said that construction of the bypass will reduce the chances of accidents within the city and traffic will operate smoothly.

While discussing with the journalists at Raipur airport after returning from Nagpur, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said that orders for construction of 4-lane from Simga to Raipur and from Dhwaipani to Jabalpur had already been issued, but the section from Dhwaipani to Simga was left. He requested Union Minister Gadkari to develop this important section into 4-lane, which he immediately accepted and assured of its construction soon.

Deputy Chief Minister Sharma said that I heartily congratulate Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari that understanding the need of the area, he has given positive consent to make this important road 4-lane. With this, the general public will be able to get the facility of uninterrupted 4-lane road from Jabalpur to Raipur.
