Dense fog once again proved deadly in Nagaur district of Rajasthan on Thursday morning. A sleeper bus and Scorpio collided head-on near Surpaliya bus stand on National Highway-58. In this tragic road accident, 3 people died, while four others were seriously injured. The accident was so severe that the Scorpio was blown to pieces and the vehicle was completely damaged. According to eyewitnesses, there was a dense fog in the area at around 7.45 in the morning, due to which visibility was extremely low. Meanwhile, a sleeper bus going from Delhi towards Jodhpur and a Scorpio coming from Barmer towards Ladnun (Nagaur) collided with each other. The collision was so strong that the Scorpio got stuck in the front part of the bus and there was an atmosphere of chaos on the highway for some time. After the accident, the passersby and local people present at the spot immediately came forward to help. The people traveling in the Scorpio were badly trapped in the vehicle. People broke the doors and took out the injured. During this time, seeing the condition of a seriously injured person deteriorating, a passerby tried to save him by giving him CPR on the spot. It is being told that the passerby continued giving CPR for a long time, after which the injured was sent to JLN Hospital in Nagaur via ambulance.
As soon as the information was received, Surpaliya police station, highway patrolling team and ambulance reached the spot. The police immediately sent the injured to the hospital for treatment. In the accident, two people riding the Scorpio died on the spot, while the other injured were referred to Nagaur after first aid. Another injured person died during treatment at JLN Hospital, taking the death toll to three. According to the police, a total of five people were injured in the accident, out of which one died in the hospital. At present, treatment of four injured is going on at JLN Hospital, the condition of some of them is said to be critical. The bodies of the deceased have been kept in the mortuary of Deh (Jayal, Nagaur) Hospital for post-mortem. Police is engaged in the process of identifying the deceased and informing the families. After the accident, traffic on National Highway-58 was affected for some time. The help of JCB was taken to remove the Scorpio stuck in front of the bus. After much effort, the vehicle was pulled out, after which traffic could be restored on the road. It is a matter of relief that none of the passengers on board the bus were injured. In the initial investigation, the police considered dense fog and low visibility to be the main reason for the accident. However, the police are also investigating the speed of the bus and the Scorpio, negligence of the driver and other technical aspects. Police officials say that during the winter season, dense fog is prevailing in many districts of Rajasthan, due to which the possibility of road accidents increases in the morning and night. Local people say that many accidents have happened on this route in the past due to fog, but despite this, the drivers do not take full caution. Police have appealed to drivers to use fog lights during fog, maintain safe distance and avoid driving at high speed.
