Bhopal: Politics has intensified in Madhya Pradesh over two different tragedies. After the deaths due to contaminated water in Indore, while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reached Bhagirathpura on Saturday and was seen standing with the families of the victims, at the same time in Bhopal, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav attacked the Congress by inspecting the Union Carbide factory. The CM termed the Bhopal gas tragedy as a stigma on Congress and demanded a public apology from Rahul Gandhi.
bhopal gas tragedy stigma of congress
After inspecting the Union Carbide factory in Bhopal, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said, “Not only in the history of Madhya Pradesh but also in the history of the country, such a horrific incident like the Bhopal gas tragedy has never happened. On the intervening night of 2-3 December 1984, poisonous methyl isocyanate gas released from the Union Carbide factory created a wave of death in Bhopal, which is the biggest stigma of the Congress rule. The CM said that it is surprising that such a dangerous poison 25 It remained there for years and the Congress governments did not make any serious efforts to remove it, due to which the area became scary and haunted.”
We fulfilled the responsibility, government with the victims
The Chief Minister said that his government, while discharging its responsibilities in the court and outside the court, got the toxic waste of Union Carbide disposed of. Even today the government stands with full sensitivity towards those who lost their lives and the sick victims of the gas tragedy. In difficult circumstances of life, the government is supporting the affected families with all possible help and sympathy.
Removed poison and removed stains
CM Dr. Yadav made serious allegations against Congress and said that it left this area unclaimed and kept delaying the disposal of toxic waste. In January 2025, his government, under the guidance of the court, safely disposed of the Union Carbide poison and completely incinerated it. This is a message to the whole world that the scientists and administration of Madhya Pradesh are capable of dealing with dangerous chemicals without any loss of life. The Chief Minister said that this step is important towards erasing the stigma of misgovernance by Congress and enhancing the prestige of the state.
Accused of chasing away Anderson, demand for apology from Rahul
The Chief Minister alleged that Congress not only left the people of Bhopal to die, but also played a role in banishing Union Carbide owner Warren Anderson from the country. He said that Rahul Gandhi should apologize in this entire matter, because this tragedy happened during the reign of his grandmother and father. Later, Manmohan Singh’s government also did not take any concrete steps.
CM said that the present government is looking for new employment opportunities in closed industrial units. In future, reconstruction work including construction of memorial here will be taken forward after taking suggestions from all parties.
CM did not meet the gas affected people
Rachna Dhingra, associated with the Gas Victims Organization, said that the Chief Minister has come to visit Union Carbide. That is why the victims of the gas tragedy have come to meet him. There are also gas affected widows who are not getting even a pension of Rs 1,000. Thousands of quintals of toxic waste is still buried inside and outside the factory. Even today, Rs 188 crore is lying there for providing employment and other works to the gas victims, but none of the victims could get employment. We have come to meet the Chief Minister regarding this. However, the CM did not talk to anyone during the inspection of Union Carbide.
