Bhopal : Madhya Pradesh, the heart state of the country, has made its strong identity at the global level with new confidence, new energy and visionary approach in the field of tourism. To present these features and investment possibilities on the global platform, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will address a session focused on investment in the tourism sector at the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 21.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that inspired by the visionary vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “Development also, heritage also”, Madhya Pradesh has developed tourism as a powerful medium of inclusive and sustainable development. As a result, arrival of more than 13.30 crore tourists has been recorded in the state in recent years, which shows the increasing national and international trust towards Madhya Pradesh.

Spiritual tourism has been established as the main identity of Madhya Pradesh. More than 6.5 crore devotees have visited the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. Along with this, historical and religious places like Khajuraho, Sanchi, Orchha, Maheshwar, Amarkantak and Chitrakoot have become major attraction centers for tourists from India and abroad.

The state government has given a new direction to investment promotion, employment generation and sustainable tourism development through Tourism Policy-2025 and Film Tourism Policy-2025. Under the Film Tourism Policy-2025, Madhya Pradesh is emerging as a preferred destination for national and international film production, thereby creating new employment opportunities for local artists, technicians and youth.

With the aim of empowering rural tourism, more than 370 homestays have been developed in 81 villages of the state, a target has been set to expand them to 1000. This initiative is strengthening the rural economy as well as providing direct income and employment to the local communities.

To strengthen the tourism infrastructure, Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Gwalior, Rewa, Singrauli and Khajuraho have been connected by air connectivity under PM Tourism Air Service. Apart from this, fast, safe and convenient travel facility is being provided to the tourists through PM Tourism Heli Service.
