Raipur : In the capital Raipur, four new hostels have been built in Sadhu to provide better opportunities to the students of Scheduled Caste, Tribal, OBC and weaker sections to prepare for competitive examinations. Their total capacity is 1000 seats. Principal Secretary Sonmani Bora said that the capital Raipur is soon developing as an educational hub for the children of this category.

The Principal Secretary said that the students living in these hostels being built in Sadhu will be prepared for all competitive examinations including Civil Services, NDA, CLAT, NET, Slate, PT, PMT, IIT, Medical. The entire complex is developed over approximately 18 acres. The newly constructed hostels include 500 seats for coaching etc. for Eklavya Draper students, 100 seats each for OBC boys and girls, 250 seats for vocational education, research and other higher education for Scheduled Tribe girls. Its cost is Rs 35 crore 30 lakh 64 thousand. It is worth noting that in Sadhu, a hostel is already being run for backward class students including boys and girls.

Principal Secretary Bora told the officials that constant monitoring should be maintained on all the ashrams and hostels in the state run by the department. He said that he gave instructions to regularly visit the website related to hostel-ashram management system and make necessary improvements. Bora also suggested to include tribal lifestyle as well as Mera Apna Vikas Gaon in the National Painting Competition to be held on 20-21 February.

In the meeting, Bora also discussed the inclusion of unique local arts like wall painting, Gond art and other local arts at the personal level and gave instructions to jointly organize programs on a large scale on the occasion of Adi Parab, symposium and International Women’s Day to be organized in the coming month of March. Director of Tribal Research and Training Institute, Mrs. Hina Animesh Netam and senior officials were present in the meeting.
