BJP has taken a big and important decision regarding Jharkhand Municipal Elections. The party has agreed on the names of the candidates supported for the posts of mayors of nine municipal corporations of the state and several municipal council president posts. Former BJP councilor Roshni Khalkho will be in the fray for the post of Ranchi Mayor, while Sanjeev Aggarwal has received the party’s support from Dhanbad.
In this regard, an important meeting of the Core Committee was organized in the state BJP office on Monday, February 2. The meeting was presided over by BJP’s National General Secretary Arun Singh and National Vice President Rekha Verma. In this meeting, final agreement was reached on the names of party-supported candidates for the municipal elections.
It is noteworthy that this election to be held in 48 municipal bodies of Jharkhand is not being conducted on party basis. Despite this, other major political parties including BJP are fielding their own supported candidates. However, till now BJP seems to be avoiding releasing any official statement or list of candidates on this decision. The party’s media in-charge and spokesperson are also refraining from saying anything openly on this issue.
According to media reports, BJP has agreed to support candidates for the posts of mayor of Ranchi, Dhanbad, Chas, Deoghar, Mango, Adityapur, Medininagar, Hazaribagh and Giridih municipal corporations. These include Roshni Khalkho from Ranchi, Sanjeev Aggarwal from Dhanbad, Rita Chaurasia from Deoghar, Prabhashini Kalundiya from Adityapur, Avinash Kumar from Chas, Babita Singh from Mango, Aruna Shankar from Medininagar, Sudesh Chandravanshi from Hazaribagh and Dr. Shailendra Chaudhary from Giridih.
