Police have exposed a large and organized network of ganja smuggling in Hussainabad sub-division of Palamu district. Police have arrested one man and three women in this case. Surprisingly, all the arrested accused are relatives and were running ganja smuggling as a family business for a long time. According to the police, these accused are going to jail not for the first time but for the third time.
Palamu police had received secret information that a large quantity of ganja was going to be smuggled in Hussainabad area. Considering the seriousness of the information, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed on the instructions of Hussainabad SDPO Mohammad Yakub. After this the SIT raided Madhushala Road in Hussainabad police station area.
During the raid, police recovered 8.6 kg of ganja from the spot. Apart from this, about 2 kg of ganja was also found packed in different bundles, which was prepared for sale. Taking immediate action, the police arrested Uday Prasad alias Bablu Gupta, his wife Anita Devi, Durga Devi and Savita Devi.
SDPO Mohammad Yakub said that an FIR has been registered against all the accused under the NDPS Act. During interrogation, the accused admitted that they used to buy ganja from Hariharganj area and divided it into bundles and sold them locally.
Police say that this action is only the beginning and continuous raids are being conducted in search of other people associated with this network. The administration has made it clear that drug smuggling will not be tolerated in the district under any circumstances and strict action will continue against the culprits.
