New Delhi. 21 people have died in a massive explosion that took place at a firecracker factory in Vetlapalem village in Kakinada district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday afternoon. Eight people were seriously burnt. After the accident, Chief Minister (CM) Chandrababu Naidu has adopted a strict stance. Four senior district level officers have been suspended in the case. Along with this, Chief Minister Naidu has announced to give Rs 20 lakh to the families of the deceased.
At the same time, State Minister Kandula Durgesh gave information about this. He told that about 30 employees were present in the unit when the explosion took place in the firecracker factory. He said that the explosion was so strong that many bodies scattered and fell into the nearby paddy fields. Police have deployed drones to search for bodies and body parts scattered in the fields.
It was reported that the explosion occurred at around 2 pm. The video of this explosion is going viral on social media. In this video, clouds of fire and smoke can be seen rising from the spot. The magnitude of the attack can be gauged from the fact that the bodies of those killed in the accident were carried away by the local people in sheets (Barakalu) made of manure sacks.

He has also announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF to the families of the deceased and Rs 50 thousand to the injured. At the same time, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed deep sorrow over the accident and said that relief and rescue work is going on.

Chief Minister Naidu said that this is the biggest explosion in the state and the entire incident is being investigated. He directed officials to provide immediate assistance to the affected families and sent senior ministers to the spot.
