A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh. Taking advantage of their friendship on social media, two youths called a 23-year-old girl to a hotel on the pretext of a party and gang-raped her. Police have arrested the main accused while the other is still absconding. The incident took place late on Monday night at Amber Hotel located near Alka Talkies in Kotwali police station area. The victim told the police that the accused Durgesh Harode and Atul Ghorse took her to the hotel on the pretext of partying. The girl already knew both of them, so she fell into their trap. On reaching the hotel the accused forcibly made him drink beer. When the girl became unconscious due to intoxication, both of them took turns to rape her.
Case exposed due to alertness of friend
This incident came to light when an acquaintance of the girl suspected something untoward. She immediately reached the hotel and rescued the girl from there and took her straight to the Kotwali police station. On reaching the police station, the condition of the girl was so bad that she was not even in a position to record her statement. The police immediately admitted him to the district hospital.
Statement recorded after medical, case registered
After the girl’s condition improved on Tuesday, medical examination was conducted and detailed statements were taken. Kotwali Inspector Ashish Kumar said that there was friendship between the victim and the accused through social media and taking advantage of this the crime was carried out. Police have registered a case against Durgesh Harode and Atul Ghorse under sections of gang rape.
One arrested, search for the other continues
Police have arrested Durgesh Harode while separate teams are being formed to arrest the absconding accused Atul Ghorse. Police say that soon the second accused will also be put behind the bars.
