CG High Court: There was a stir on Wednesday morning after the High Court of Bilaspur, the judiciary of Chhattisgarh, once again received a bomb threat through email. As soon as information about the threat was received, all proceedings of the court were postponed with immediate effect and the entire court complex was put on high alert.
Security arrangements were tightened
Like every day, the hearing had started in the court in the morning. All the judges including the Chief Justice were hearing the cases in their respective court rooms. Meanwhile, the High Court administration received a suspicious email, in which there was a threat of a bomb in the court premises and detonating it. Keeping security in mind, the hearing was stopped with immediate effect.
As soon as the information was received, senior police and administration officials including Bilaspur Senior Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh reached the spot, along with the already deployed security forces, additional police forces have also been deployed. The court premises and surrounding areas were cordoned off and intensive investigation was started.
Bomb and dog squad teams searched
The team of bomb squad and dog squad thoroughly searched the court premises, different court rooms, bar room, registrar office and other important places. Entry and exit from the premises are being strictly monitored and every person coming and going is being checked.
Police are investigating the email
As a precautionary measure, judges, officials of the Advocate General’s Office, judicial officers and employees have been sent to safe places. Currently, all hearings have been postponed on the instructions of the Chief Justice. At present the police is busy investigating the authenticity and source of the email. Clear information related to the matter is awaited.
