17 accused acquitted in Biranpur violence case
After a long trial that lasted for almost three years, all the accused have been acquitted in the murder case of father-son duo Rahim Mohammed and Eidul Mohammed. Bemetara District Court has acquitted all 17 accused in the murder case of Rahim and Eidul due to lack of evidence.
What is Biranpur incident?
On April 8, 2023, there was a dispute between two communities in Biranpur village of Bemetara district, which turned into violence.
23 year old Bhuneshwar Sahu was murdered in this violence.
During this time many houses in the village were also set on fire.
Two days after the violence, on April 11, 2023, the bodies of father Rahim Mohammad (55) and son Eidul Mohammad (35) were found in Shaktighat area.
After tension increased in the area, Section 144 and curfew was imposed for two weeks.
Police had arrested 12 people in the murder case of Bhuneshwar Sahu, which case is under trial in the CBI court of Raipur.
At the same time, 17 accused were arrested in the murder case of Rahim Mohammad and Eidul Mohammad.
