Raipur : Yoga is an ancient and scientific tradition of India, which our sages have developed on the basis of deep research and experience. Various yoga asanas were created by studying the natural behavior of animals and plants, which even today are proving to be extremely useful in making human life physically and mentally strong. This was said by Chhattisgarh Yoga Commission Chairman Roopnarayan Sinha. He was addressing the inauguration ceremony of the seven-day teacher training and yoga training program organized under the joint aegis of the Commission and the University at Rawatpura Government University, Raipur.
While inspiring the students to adopt regular yoga practice along with education, President Sinha said that mental balance, concentration and positive thinking are very important for today’s youth, which can be easily achieved through yoga. Describing national service and patriotism as the highest ideal of life, he called upon the future teachers to play an active role in building a healthy, disciplined and cultured society.
At the beginning of the program, the chief guest was welcomed by the university management by presenting him a bouquet, shawl and sapling. Thereafter, as per Indian tradition, the training program was formally inaugurated by lighting the lamp in front of Goddess Saraswati.
The said seven-day training program for B.Ed. is conducted under the Faculty of Education of the University. It has been organized for 289 students studying in the third semester. The objective of the program is to provide theoretical and practical information about yoga to future teachers and make them capable of teaching yoga at the school level.
On this occasion, Principal of Arya Samaj Baijnathpara Raipur Yogiraj Sahu, Pro-Chancellor Prof. Shubhashish Bhattacharya, Registrar Dr. Kamal Kumar Pradhan, Accounts Officer Gaurav Dewangan, Probation Officer Ravikant Kumbhkar, Dean Education Faculty Prof. University teachers and employees including Abhishek Srivastava, Dr. Jyoti Sahu were present.
