Bhopal : Madhya Pradesh Police has achieved remarkable success against illegal cattle and cattle smuggling across the state. As a result of active, coordinated and technically strong action of the police, 141 cows and other animals were safely freed in the last 7 days. Vehicles used in smuggling have also been seized.
Chhatarpur (Police Station Naugaon): Police siege on the highway
Naugaon Police Station, acting immediately on the information, stopped a suspicious 16 wheeler truck on the four lane highway. During the search, 45 cattle were found loaded in the truck beyond its capacity. In this action the police arrested 03 accused.
Anuppur (Postation Kotma): Smuggler arrested with illegal weapon.
Kotma police recovered 22 pieces of buffalo/pada from a truck. In this action, the police have also seized a country-made pistol and 02 live cartridges from the possession of the accused. The total value of the seized material is estimated to be around Rs 26 lakh.
Seoni (Postation Kotwali): Big success during night patrolling.
Seoni Police seized a container vehicle and freed 27 cows that were being transported illegally in it. Similarly, in another operation, the police also freed 39 cows that were being transported illegally in a vehicle.
Khargone and Umaria
Khargone police took action in two separate cases and freed 04 cows. Meanwhile, Umaria police seized a pickup vehicle and freed 04 cattle (buffalo and pada) from smugglers. In these cases, action has been taken under the Cruelty to Animals Act and Motor Vehicle Act.
Madhya Pradesh Police is continuously taking action against the elements involved in smuggling of cows and other animals. This action is an important step towards not only protection of cows but also prevention of animal cruelty and strengthening of law and order.
