Guard Balveer Singh Ahirwar and building owner Lokendra Singh Tomar, who were made accused in this case, have been acquitted by the court. Due to lack of evidence, their release has been ordered. The suspicion of destroying evidence was not proven in the investigation.
According to the police, in the initial investigation after the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, it was suspected that the accused had tried to hide the evidence. The arrest was made on this basis. During investigation, it was found that after the incident, Sonam and Vishal Chauhan were staying in a building located in Lasudia area. This building was taken on rent in the name of Shilam James and was being managed through a broker. Initial suspicion had increased as the rental agreement of the concerned room was in Vishal’s name.

Electricity bills, rental documents and other technical aspects were scrutinized in the investigation, but no concrete evidence was found of the involvement of the two accused. Vivek Sigam, Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, Shillong, said that the arrest was made on the basis of preliminary circumstances and information received at the spot. Later, when the evidence was confirmed, his role in the murder could not be proved. On this basis the court acquitted both of them. The main accused Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raj Kushwaha are currently in judicial custody and the police are continuing to investigate other aspects.
