Navjot Kaur Sidhu resigns from Congress, accuses Amarinder Singh

Chandigarh. Congress leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu on Saturday announced her departure from the party and launched a scathing attack on Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warringah. He accused Waring of damaging the party and described him as the most despicable, incompetent and corrupt president ever. Last month, Navjot Kaur was suspended from the primary membership of Congress after her statement that she wanted Rs 500 crore for the CM’s chair sparked a political controversy.
According to media reports, the former MLA, who is married to former Punjab Congress president and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, alleged that Waring had sold out the party for personal gain by striking a deal with the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab. In the post on X, Kaur accused Waring of saving himself from jail by colluding with the Chief Minister to weaken the Congress. She claimed that Waring had prepared a suspension letter for her, while senior party leaders working against her husband were given important positions. He said that he has enough evidence to expose him, but he is not interested in it, because he himself has left the Congress where the voice of any promising leader is not heard.
Navjot Kaur alleged that Waring deliberately fielded candidates in her constituency so that she would lose the election and questioned his lack of action against senior leaders who openly challenged her leadership. He accused Waring of focusing on internal disintegration rather than strengthening the party and said his actions had made him a laughingstock. The controversy started after Navjot Kaur’s remarks last month in which she had said that political power in Punjab is linked to money. She had earlier said that her husband would return to active politics if Congress made him the chief ministerial candidate in the state. He also said that although he does not have money to give to any party, he can turn Punjab into a golden state.
