Raipur : A grand and historic event of Abujhmad Peace Half Marathon 2026 was organized today, giving a powerful message of peace, harmony and development from the holy land of Abujhmad. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai participated in the half marathon organized near the high school campus of Narayanpur early this morning and flagged off the runners and also symbolically ran the race himself. During this, the Chief Minister also unveiled the medals awarded to the winning participants.

Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai said that today a strong message of peace and tranquility is being given to the entire country and the world from the land of Abujhmad. He said that this is the same Abujhmad, where once it was difficult for common citizens and soldiers to reach, but today due to the positive environment thousands of people have gathered here. The Chief Minister said that the zeal and enthusiasm of the youth towards freedom from Maoism in Bastar is indicating that soon this area will be populated with happiness.

Chief Minister Sai said that this change is the result of the policies and leadership of the double engine government. Referring to the determination and strong will of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he said that the target has been set to completely eradicate Naxalism from the country by March 31, 2026 and Bastar will be completely free from terror. Paying tribute to the indomitable courage and valor of the officers and soldiers of the security forces engaged in the fight against Naxalism, he said that due to their sacrifice and dedication, a strong foundation of peace and development has been laid in the Bastar region today.

The Chief Minister informed that recently, development works worth Rs 351 crore have been inaugurated and bhoomi pujan done in Bastar region and new development works have also been announced. He said that due to Naxalism this area was deprived of development for the last four decades, but now this will not happen and the Ganges of development will flow continuously in Bastar. He reiterated the government’s resolve to connect entire Bastar and Chhattisgarh with the mainstream of development.

It is noteworthy that this 21 kilometer long half marathon was organized from Narayanpur to Basing, in which more than 10 thousand runners from Bastar division, state and other states including more than 60 foreign participants from India and abroad participated. Before the marathon, a Zumba warm-up program was organized in the high school campus, in which thousands of participants participated enthusiastically.
Surrendered Maoists become part of marathon

The most special and historic thing about this event was that the surrendered Maoist youth also took part in the marathon giving the message of giving up their weapons and returning to the mainstream. The active participation of the local community including the Abujhmadia tribe of Narayanpur made the event more impactful and inspiring.

In the program, Forest and Environment Minister and regional MLA Kedar Kashyap, District in-charge Minister Tankram Verma, Bastar MP Mahesh Kashyap, Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Association President Rupsai Salam, Vaidyaraj Padmahemchand Manjhi, Chief Minister’s Secretary Rahul Bhagat, Bastar Commissioner Doman Singh, IG P. Sundarraj, Collector Namrata Jain, Superintendent of Police Robinson Guriya, District CEO Akanksha Shiksha Khalkho including public representatives, administrative officers and senior officials. A large number of citizens were present.
