Tribals blocked Mandla road, car from Sihora created ruckus
Jabalpur. Last Sunday afternoon, the fifth woman injured in the hit and run case in Barela Road also died during treatment in the Medical College. Here, the relatives of the deceased protested by blocking Mandla Road. After post-mortem, the bodies were handed over to the family members who came from Bamhauri village of Mandla. Meanwhile, the police have found the car which carried out the tragic incident of hit and run. The car is said to be from Sihora, which is registered in the name of Sihora resident Deepak Soni.
Regarding the incident, Barela police station in-charge Anil Patel said that at around 12.45 pm on Sunday, workers from Bamhauri village of Mandla in Sigma Kanha Colony Saliwada were working to install mesh on the road divider on the under-construction road. When the workers were eating after the lunch break in the afternoon, a car number MP 20XB 1460 came creating ruckus and crushed the workers. In this accident, 45-year-old Mrs. Chenwati Gaur, 40-year-old Mrs. Lachho Bai died on the spot, while late night, during treatment, 45-year-old Mrs. Varsha Kushram, 40-year-old Mrs. Gumta Bai died, while during treatment, 40-year-old Mrs. Krishna Bai of Kadopa village Bamhori died in the medical college on Monday morning.

Injured in the accident are Mrs. Geeta Bai Uike, age 40 years, Mrs. Meera Bai Uike, age 45 years, Mrs. Rajkumari Uike, age 35 years, Mrs. Jamuna Bai, age 40 years, Mrs. Gyanvati Bai Masram, age 41 years, Chhoti Bai Masram, age 35 years, Mrs. Bhagwati Bai Uike, age 35 years, Mrs. Lakshmi Gaur, age 40 years, Mrs. Prabhavati Maravi. Age 30 years, Mrs. Akalvati Maravi age 40 years, Mrs. Lakshmi Bai Barkade age 45 years are undergoing treatment in the Medical College. After conducting Panchnama of the dead bodies and post-mortem of the dead bodies, the police handed over the bodies to the relatives for shroud and burial. The police registered an offense under sections 281, 125 (A), 125 (B), 105 BNS and sections 184, 134, 187, 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act against the car driver and took it under investigation.

Angered by this incident, the tribals blocked Mandla Road near Barela Toll Naka. A compensation of Rs 25 lakh was demanded for the dead and Rs 10 lakh each for the injured. The protesters have accused the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the contractor of gross negligence. According to the district member of Bijadandi, about 20 women laborers were being made to work on the ongoing highway, while they were not provided any kind of safety kit and security arrangements. Neither NHAI, nor the contractor, nor any representative of the administration was present at the spot at the time of the accident, which shows extremely serious negligence.
Frightened workers returned home………….
During treatment at Jabalpur Medical, some injured laborers got scared and returned to their homes between 12 o’clock in the night, which made their situation more dangerous. The district member conducted the medical post-mortem of all the dead and helped in taking the bodies to their village.
Apart from the regional people, Bijadandi district member and social worker Rajendra Putta and Raj Kumar Sinha of Bargi Dam Displaced and Affected Association have demanded that financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh should be provided to the families of each deceased. An assistance amount of Rs 10 lakh should be given to each seriously injured. One member of each deceased family should be given a job on government or contract basis. A high-level investigation into the incident should be conducted and strict action should be taken against the guilty NHAI officials and contractors.

Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh has expressed deep condolences on the death of laborers of Bamhori village of Mandla district in Barela in a road accident. As soon as he got information about the incident, he talked to the Collector and NHAI officer and got information about the arrangements for the treatment of the injured.
Financial assistance of Rs. 2-2 lakhs…………..
NHAI has decided to initially provide assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased, out of which Rs 1 lakh each has been approved immediately. Minister Shri Singh said that the government will take full care of the treatment of the injured and necessary cooperation will be provided by NHAI in future also.

Here, the injured are being treated in the medical hospital, where the condition of two youths is said to be very serious. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the entire investigation of the road accident has been handed over to ASP Crime Jitendra Singh. ASP Traffic Anjana Tiwari said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the white colored Renault car number MP 20XB 1460 is registered in the name of Deepak Soni, resident of Sihora. At the time of the incident, Deepak’s brother Lakhan Soni, a resident of Majhauli, a physiotherapist by profession, was driving the car. Police have detained the car owner Deepak. Search is on for his brother Lakhan. Police have seized the car but the accused driver has absconded. The police is searching for him rapidly.
