Harda. More than 300 students of Eklavya Residential School in Harda district of Madhya Pradesh, fed up with poor food and facilities, jumped over the hostel wall on Saturday morning and set out to meet the Collector. In the harsh cold they walked on foot towards the Collectorate, about 40 kilometers away. When the students had walked about 8 to 9 kilometers, the district administration got the news. After this, District Magistrate Siddharth Jain stopped the students on the highway and sent them back to school by buses, assuring them of solving their problems.

DM interrupted and listened to complaints
Officials said that when the students had walked about 8-9 kilometers, the administration became active and District Magistrate Siddharth Jain stopped them on the National Highway near Sodalpur. He assured the students of solving their problems and sent them back to school through buses. The students allege that the school has been lacking basic facilities for a long time, the quality of food is very poor and the condition of cleanliness there is also very bad.

What complaints?
Students allege that there is a severe lack of basic facilities in the school for a long time. He told that neither good food is available there nor cleanliness is taken care of. The students also said that when they complain about these problems, the hostel principal harasses them mentally. A student told journalists that he was forced to take this step when there was no hearing despite repeated complaints.

DM gave assurance
During the conversation with the District Magistrate, the students also raised slogans demanding the removal of the Principal. District Magistrate Siddharth Jain assured the students that a guardian committee will be formed to check the quality of food and a ‘contact committee’ will also be formed for quick resolution of the complaints of the students. He said that complaints from students have also come forward against the principal. Seeing the problems of the children, I myself reached the spot.

The matter will be investigated
District Magistrate Siddharth Jain said that the students have been sent back after explaining. The entire matter will be investigated and necessary action will be taken. Meanwhile, local Congress MLA Abhijeet Shah inspected the basic facilities at the hostel. During this time he found many flaws in the food items kept in the kitchen. When the drinking water tank was examined, tree roots were found inside it. He also shared a video of this. Let us tell you that 63 Eklavya Model Residential Schools are being run in Madhya Pradesh.
