Raipur : The transparent and digital paddy procurement system implemented by the Chhattisgarh government in the interest of farmers is proving effective in strengthening the rural economy in the district. In the Kharif marketing year 2025-26, this system has emerged as a strong basis of trust, transparency and timely payment for the farmers. An inspiring example of this positive change is farmer Ram Baran Singh Markam, resident of village Salhi of district Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur. He successfully sold 51.20 quintals of paddy at Chainpur Procurement Center through a completely transparent and technology based process.
The convenience of farmers was given top priority at the procurement centre. Basic facilities like accurate weighing with digital weighing scale, proper seating arrangements, clean drinking water and shady places provided a respectable experience to the farmers. This not only simplified the process, but also strengthened the farmers’ confidence in the governance system. Farmer Ram Baran Singh Markam says that in previous years, long wait, confusion and chaos during the sale of paddy were common problems of the farmers, but this year’s disciplined, transparent and accountable system has eliminated all these difficulties. With a assured system of timely payments, they are now able to plan for upcoming farming preparations, children’s education and family needs with confidence.
This story of Ram Baran Singh Markam is a strong proof of the ground success of the farmer-friendly policies of the government implemented in the district. This success series is also inspiring other farmers of the district to take advantage of the transparent system and become self-reliant. In the end he expressed his gratitude to Honorable Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai for the efforts being made for the welfare of farmers.
