Raipur : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, the joint efforts of MNREGA and Fisheries Scheme are bringing positive changes in the lives of villagers in the remote Niyad Nellanar areas of Sukma district. The 150 livelihood schemes approved in this session have strengthened farming. Besides, 30 selected villagers are being provided training in fish farming using scientific method and they are being provided a way to become self-reliant.

Also promote fisheries

‘Niyad Nella Naar’ is an ambitious scheme of Chhattisgarh, which aims to make the villagers of Naxal affected remote areas (Sukma, Bijapur, Kanker, Dantewada, Narayanpur) self-reliant by linking them with MNREGA and other schemes, in which fisheries are also being promoted, such as increasing the income of the villagers through pond construction and fish farming training under MNREGA and connecting them with self-employment, so that they can contribute to water conservation. Along with this, we can also develop new sources of income.

Due to this training being given by the Rural Self-Employment Center under the guidance of the Collector and District CEO, now the people of Vananchal are getting employment in the village itself. This will increase their family income and they will be able to improve the education and standard of living of their children.

New direction gained through training – Somaru’s inspiring story

The fisheries training organized at RSETI Sukma has opened a new path of self-reliance for the villagers of remote areas. An inspiring example of this is Somaru, a resident of Palem in Konta development block. During the training, he carefully learned all the nuances of fish life cycle, rearing techniques and care and also developed understanding through drawings.

Somaru says that with this advanced and technical training they will be able to establish fish farming as a successful business in the future. Expressing his gratitude to the government for this beneficial initiative, he thanked Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai and district in-charge minister Kedar Kashyap. He believes that this scheme is an important step towards economically empowering the villagers.
