Raipur : ‘Pradhan Mantri Suryghar Free Electricity Scheme’, operated with the aim of promoting solar energy in Khairagarh district, is bringing positive changes in rural areas. Through this scheme, while people are getting relief from rising electricity bills, they are also becoming self-reliant in the field of energy.

In this sequence, teacher Chintaram Kanwar of village Sundongri under development block Khairagarh has emerged as an inspiring example for the villagers. By installing a 3 kilowatt capacity solar plant on the roof of his residence, he proved that solar energy is the most economical, clean and sustainable energy of the future.

Chintaram Kanwar told that he got information about this scheme through the public relations campaign run by the Electricity Department. As soon as he got information about the scheme, he immediately got registered and within just a month the installation of the solar plant in his house was completed. Under this project, they will receive a total subsidy of Rs 1 lakh 08 thousand from the Central and State Government.

He said that due to the huge subsidy being given by the government and the easy monthly installment (EMI) facility, the financial burden on them has reduced considerably. Presently they are not only taking advantage of free electricity but are also actively contributing to environmental protection.

Inspired by this initiative of Chintaram Kanwar, other villagers of the district are also moving towards adopting solar energy, due to which a strong step towards green energy is being seen in the district.
