Raipur : This adage, where there is a will, there is a way, Rashobai Markam, a resident of Gram Panchayat Bangaon under development block Farasgaon of Kondagaon district, has not only given a new direction to her life by joining the self-help group under the National Rural Livelihood Mission ‘Bihan’, but has also set an example of self-reliance. Today Rashobai is earning an income of more than Rs 01 lakh by starting various livelihood activities.

Rashobai, a member of Jai Mata Di Self Help Group, before joining the Self Help Group, used to support her family by working as an agricultural laborer and was limited to household chores. Due to limited sources of income, the annual income of the family was only Rs 48 thousand, due to which it was very difficult to meet the daily needs and the family could not be looked after properly.

After joining the self-help group, he received RF grant amount of Rs 15 thousand and CIF loan amount of Rs 60 thousand through the group. With this support, along with agricultural work, he started various livelihood activities like running a grocery shop and fish farming. With the guidance of the NRLM team of the district administration, her confidence increased and due to the successful conduct of the above livelihood activities, today the annual income of Rashobai Markam has increased to approximately Rs 1 lakh 67 thousand. Presently they are earning double the income compared to before. Due to this, the financial condition of his family has strengthened and there has been a pleasant change in the standard of living. Today, with her hard work, dedication and the support of the group, Rashobai Markam has not only become self-reliant but has also become a strong financial support for her family. He expressed gratitude for the support received from government schemes.

It is noteworthy that under the NRLM ‘Bihan’ scheme, with the continuous efforts of self-help groups and teams, continuous work is being done to make rural women empowered and self-reliant, so that more and more women can become “Lakhpati Didi” and live with self-respect.
